admissions policy

The Baptist Home is a Christian ministry.  Any person desiring residency in The Baptist Home is required to complete, sign and submit an Application for Residency. All Applications for Residency are subject to approval by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.

The Executive Committee reserves the right to refuse admission to any person for any reason. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to those whose welfare and medical needs cannot be met or because the safety or health of individuals would be endangered.

Applicants will be received as residents based on availability and type of residency. All residents shall sign an Admissions Agreement, Partial Return of Equity Agreement or Lease Agreement, on or before the first day of admission. All costs and charges will be due according to the terms of the agreement.

All residents shall have a legal estate and aging plan that also defines responsible parties and contact persons in case resident becomes incapacitated; such as wills, trusts and Durable Powers of Attorneys for financial and health care decisions.

Costs of prescription and non-prescription medicines, medical supplies, devices and supplements ordered by physicians, doctors’ visits, oxygen, ambulance services, extra transportation, or services performed by providers other than The Baptist Home’s in-house personnel (such as dentists, optometrists, podiatrists, therapists, etc.) and all funeral and burial arrangements shall be the responsibility of the resident and his or her responsible party.

The resident and his or her responsible party shall make timely application for all qualifying income and insurance benefits. Benefits include, but are not necessarily limited to Social Security, the Missouri Nursing Home Cash Grant, Social Security Supplemental Income, retirement pensions and benefits, Veterans Benefits, Medicare, Medicaid, and Long-term Care Insurance, which he or she will receive directly and apply toward the cost of care.

For those desiring current or future benevolent assistance, The Baptist Home requires all applicants and residents to handle their finances honorably. Income and assets may not be given away or spent intentionally to hasten one’s qualification for benevolent assistance. A financial statement for all assets and income is a part of the application process. After applicant has been accepted for residency, The Baptist Home reserves the right to review his or her financial circumstances to determine his or her qualification for assistance. All income and assets owned or inherited by the resident must apply toward the cost of care. Disposition of income and assets for other than customary living expenses requires approval for compliance with this Admission for Residency policy. Revised September 12, 2006.

This Admissions Policy is subject to periodic review by The Baptist Home Board of Trustees.
