Application Process Step 1: Apply
The first step in applying for residency at The Baptist Home is to complete and submit a short application. Upon receipt, your Administrator will review the application, request additional information if necessary and contact you confirming that your application is being processed.
Step 2:
Your application will then be forwarded to the Executive Committee of The Baptist Home’s Board of Trustees for review. (This review takes place in a timely manner, but applications can usually be expedited when necessary.) Once your application has been reviewed you will receive a request for additional information if necessary and you will be informed of the Board’s decision.
Step 3:
If approved you will be placed on the waiting list for the next available space or if space is available given the opportunity to become a resident or pass until a later date.
Note: After an applicant has been accepted for residency, The Baptist Home reserves the right to review his or her financial circumstances to determine his or her qualification for assistance. All income and assets owned or inherited by the resident must apply toward the cost of care. Disposition of income and assets for other than customary living expenses requires approval for compliance with this Admission for Residency Policy. The Baptist Home does not require residents to turn over all assets to The Baptist Home but does require residents to use their assets to pay for care. If residents were to diminish their assets they will be placed on benevolent care. If a residents has assets remaining in their trust the assets will go to the beneficiary established in the trust.
Becoming A Resident Necessary Documents:
When entering the Home you will need to sign a housing agreement, and have a Legal Estate and Aging Plan in force. The housing agreement will vary based on your type of residency. (Retirement Living, Assisted Living or Nursing Care)
The Estate and Aging Plan can be one of a few things. You can develop this with your own advisors, or The Baptist Home can suggest professionals to help you make the necessary arrangements.
Applying for Benefits:
It will also be necessary for you to make timely application for all qualifying income and insurance benefits.
Benefits include, but are not limited to social security, social security supplemental income, the Missouri Nursing Home Cash Grant, retirement pensions and benefits, veterans benefits, and long-term care insurance, which you will receive directly and apply toward the cost of care.
Additional Costs:
Additional costs will be your responsibility or the responsibility of your specified loved ones.
Examples: Cost of prescription and non-prescription medicines, medical supplies, devices and supplements ordered by physicians, doctors’ visits, oxygen, ambulance services, extra transportation, or services performed by providers other than The Baptist Home’s in-house personnel (such as dentists, optometrists, podiatrists, therapists, etc.) as well as all funeral and burial arrangements.
Benevolence:
The Baptist Home has been providing benevolent assistance to its residents since its inception in 1913. Your financial situation will be addressed along with any current or future needs during the application process.
If you do qualify for assistance, be aware that The Baptist Home’s policy limits access to information about your payment arrangements. The residents and care-staff have no reason to know you are receiving assistance, and there is no distinction between the care provided to full-pay and benevolence-assisted residents.
The Baptist Home requires benevolence applicants and residents to handle their finances honorably. Income and assets may not be given away or spent intentionally to hasten one’s qualification for benevolent assistance. A financial statement for all assets and income is a part of the application process.
