benevolence and the baptist home
BENEVOLENCE
The Baptist Home was created in response to the need for care among
aging Missouri Baptists who lacked the family or financial means to
support themselves. This history of benevolence has characterized The
Home throughout its nearly 100-year history.
In 1981 The Home made a notable policy change making it no longer
necessary to relinquish all assets to The Baptist Home in exchange for
care. This policy was discontinued as the ministry expanded to include
Baptists of all financial situations. Recently The Home has chosen to
expand its ministry even further and now provides care to Christians
from many different denominations.
It is important to note; The Baptist Home makes no distinction in
the quality of care provided to self-pay and benevolence-assisted
residents, very few employees come into contact with such information.
